It might be the Night Diva

Well guess what, I have a pee story. I just looked at my last post and I realize that it's a PS as well, so I think I'll spare you and try to come up with something else to post about. How about school?

School is the same old same old. Here I am in the library, second day of classes. One down one to go. My Medieval Symbolism class will be a bit of work, lots of discussion and "deep thoughts" and so on. Just my thing. I love the prof though, I've had her for a few classes. She's always interested in what I'm reading. Whenever I see her in the halls she asks me "what are you reading these days Lindsey?" She's one of those teachers that take an interest in their students and are concerned for their welfare. I was in Art History II with her the semester of my Junior Review and she gave me some excellent advice and talked me out of a panic and a change of majors for about an hour in her office. Great lady. I am excited though about the class, I love medieval art and architecture. A while ago I was taking Medieval Philosophy and early Brit Lit at the same time and really enjoyed it. So now I'm rounding out my medieval education. My senior project class was last night, it should be pretty easy. The instructor is new but we bonded immediately when he saw my michigan sweatshirt and we commiserated over the game. He said he'd just call me Michigan when he was taking attendance, and then did at the end of the class. Pretty cool nickname if you ask me. It's the same old gang of kids in that class, all the people I've been in classes with for 4 years now. We waffled over the issues of our senior portfolio show, and decided to have it be a one night gala event Downtown as opposed to a week long display in the hideous atrium of the art building. Phew! We also decided upon 2 half-semester projects as opposed to one big womper. Those two votes took 45 minutes. I'm pretty much not excited to be back at school. But I did miss my friends and yes maybe even the litte chilluns. It's kind of strange being a senior, in my last semester. I feel so old, so matronly. Twenty minutes ago, the Lakes Plaza was flooded with people walking to and from classes. People stopping to say hi to classmates from last semester and engage in the following conversation "Hey! How was your break?" "Good, too short, you know?" "Yeah tell me about it." "How was yours?" "Fine, went to my grandma's for christmas and out on new year's eve with Jeff and some of his friends." Now I can only see a few stragglers. The two faculty members, probably English professors since they're walking from Huron Hall and wearing knit scarves. One girl probably 13 minutes late for her 4 o'clock. The groundskeeper with his salt spreader. And now there's nobody, just snow. And not much at that. But man, just now it's started blizzarding. I can hardly see across the plaza!

Speaking of break, and having a good one and it being too short...that was what mine was! I love our new house, the fireplace had a nice toasty fire in it as often as I could demand it. I didn't go home until saturday the 23rd because of the Plague that was...plaguing our house. I worked on friday the 22nd which was a lot of fun, even though I sort of broke the new air hockey table. I saw some good friends and some good boyfriend a lot which was most excellent. I also watched the horrid excuse for a Rose Bowl. That was also the day I had to drive back out here since preschool started on the 2nd. I might have cried a little in the car on the way. A little, maybe. I frittered away my first week back between work and watching movies. I didn't watch all 9 that I checked out, but I got close. I went to a UCO retreat this weekend which was most excellent, and enormously attended 455 people! Sadly it was in Columbus OH, so I had to wear Michigan clothing at all times to prevent contamination. Speaking of OSU and Contamination, what the heck was last night about? Troy "I'm a god" Smith, Heisman Trophy Winner (as the commentators never refrained from mentioning), threw 4/14 for 35 yards! for cying out loud, I can throw 4 passes for 35 yards! Gads, what an embarassing season for the Big Ten. I weep.

But on a lighter note, I finally got the first volume of Battlestar Galactica season 2.5 yesterday!!! I believe I posted earlier about the ridiculous nature of the Kent District Library's multivolume processing procedure. I rushed to the library, and watched the first two episodes right then. Lauren even got hooked. Ha! here's a link, awesome show http://imdb.com/title/tt0407362/ Sadly now I must request the second disc and wait another month for it to arrive. Sigh. How will I know if the deathly ill President survives her breast cancer!? How will I know how the new commander of the battlestar Pegasus works with Admiral Adama in command? Gah!

Anyways...I believe this is long enough for a trivial post. "I fear you have long been desiring my absence, I shall leave you now."

thank you for sparing us a pee story (esp as i read this while eating yellow easy mac). sounds like you're settling back in, just one last semester! you can do it!! (i remember all too well how hard it was to be motivated that final semester tho.)

I would also like to comment that you never mentioned your bf's great sis who taught you the value of clean sheets... :P

Huzzah for posting! I love to watch people flood campus at certain hours and then see them gradually dwindle to just a few after normal class time begins. It's really entertaining if you have the good fortune to be in a classroom on the second or third floor with windows. I don't really have any classrooms with windows this semester. Just occurred to me, the only windowed classrooms I do have look out at other buildings or classrooms. Sigh. Well, talk to you later!

Yeah, Admiral Cane definitely makes my list of top 3 most hated characters on that show, probably being beat out by Roslyn and Madame Cleo (the priestess, I never learned her real name) because I'm pretty sure that you're actually supposed to hate her, though they do a good job of making her not totally evil in her aim, just her methods.

Oh yeah, definitely wasn't sad when that cylon chick blew Cane's brains out. Now that the new commander guy is dead too, who's in control of Pegasus? They haven't said anything in the next three episodes! I'm a little disappointed since the integration of the two crews could be cool. I think Starbuck should be promoted to Commander...heh heh. And by the way, I'm extremely unhappy about Billy's death.
